Media and Digital Marketing Manager for a Cannabis Winery
Hold onto your tits, this is the dream job for someone. We are searching for our in-house digital media manager, press manager, candid photoshoot planner, best friend? (too soon?)
Seriously though, we are not your parents’ winery, and we are not for everyone. To save your time and ours, please please please do some good ol’ fashioned late night: “I just want to see what my Ex is up to..” stalking on our website & Instagram, then Google us and read one of the 2k+ articles that writers have basically just copied and pasted from each other and tossed up on their own URL’s. Second, if the smell of bacon offends you, and you’re not sure who Ron Burgundy is, move along Veronica, this job isn’t for you.
Sexy job title right? Well, we are not looking for someone to just consistently post shit on Instagram, we use Later.com for that. We are not looking for someone who can just keep our drag-n-drop website fresh, we have late nights for that. We are not looking for someone to just reply to the press and people that want us to donate to their events, we just ignore those emails, lol. We are looking for someone who has ideas on national brand building, and experience executing on a national scale for a consumer brand.
We are a startup, so you’re not walking into a job whose Board of Directors decided to “market to millennials” and is asking you to create it from scratch. We know what direction we want to go in, we have just outgrown our 14 hour work days with what needs to be done.
So here is a little about us. (Please dear 8 lb. 6 oz. newborn infant baby Jesus, Google us before you read any more. We won’t hire anyone who rocks a suit and tie, rides a scooter -except girls- or has a rolling backpack.) K, that was the last interruption, promise. So back to “about us,” we have already built a traditional winery with a cult following. We started it in 2013 and grew it nationally. We know what it took to do that, and want to do it in half the time, while we create a whole new category in the cannabis space. We are not looking for someone to work on the alcohol side of the company, we literally have a team on that right now. We need someone to work on just the cannabis side. Even though everything we make is in a wine bottle, that is the only similarity. For our cannabis-infused alcohol removed Sauvignon Blanc, we can only sell to dispensaries, only pour at specific events, and do paid advertising in very few platforms. They look the same but are two totally different creatures.
Our 2018 goal is to focus hard on locking down CA sales. We will get the wine in the dispensaries, your job is to help get people into those dispensaries. We have a licensed marijuana winery built out in northern CA, and have unlimited production capabilities there. One annoying thing is that cannabis cannot cross state lines, so as we expand into CO, OR, WA, and Canada in 2019, we need to have a scalable approach to everything, including digital branding. You will oversee a full court media push in each state as we expand. From Canada, we can export internationally, so when edibles are legalized there in the summer of 2019, you’ll need to have an international digital media plan ready to be executed. role out planned and ready to execute.
There are a lot of roles and responsibilities we currently need more help with, but the main main MAIN role is to understand the story we are trying to tell, and tell it digitally. This is huge because the better we are at this, the more infused wine we sell, and the closer we get to our dream of owning a mini giraffe. So here are some bullet points of what you’ll be in charge of.
Handle and respond to all inbound press inquiries
Handle inbound event scheduling planning
Handle all inbound marketing and promotional requests
Create and send out monthly newsletter that people want to read
Manage all digital co-branding and co-marketing campaigns as well as product placements in films and in social media channels
Plan monthly content capture shoots and edit photos/videos constantly.
Oversee and manage creation of a 2-D animated video explaining what Cannabis Infused Sauvignon Blanc actually is. We have the script, just need a project manager.
Identify what badass POS material we need, work with us and our artist to design them, then stay within the budget to distribute in CA at first, then nationally in 2019.
Manage & update the website, Be #1 at SEO (super easy, we are the only ones doing this)
Manage & update Facebook
Manage & update Instagram
3+ years digital media management of a consumer goods brand
If you are male, you should have facial hair. We need people to take you seriously… If you can’t grow any, don’t worry, we have numerous techniques to keep you from being confused with an ugly lady.
Compensation: $35-$40/hr depending on how much you blow our minds, but this is starting off part-time. It’s a startup so at your 90-day review we talk about bringing you on full time with benefits and equity compensation.
Did you read all that or just skip to the end? Well, either way, don’t think sending a polished looking resume means we will read it because we won’t. Send an email to ComeWork@RebelCoast.com and you’ll get instruction on what to do next. If this sounds like a way to filter out a gem from the hundreds of lame ass people who shot-gun out resumes, then you are right, lol. We are never going to read boilerplate emails from people in shitty fly over states looking for a career change, because “weed and wine” sounds cool. Just send an email saying HI and you’ll get an auto-reply with the next step for an interview. And seriously if you send freaking resume we will send you a bag of shit. Not even joking, it’s called www.PoopSenders.com. They have my card on file. I just copy and paste the address in the resume header and click one button. Childish I know, but no one’s perfect.
Extraction and R&D Technician in a Licensed Cannabis FacilitySacramento, CA
Rebel Coast Winery is the first winery in the world to make cannabis infused, alcohol-removed Sauvignon Blanc. Legally no one can combine alcohol with cannabis, or even sell them in the same building. We make our wine in Sonoma, then remove the alcohol and infuse it with fast acting cannabis. We have our California State manufacturing and extraction licence and our facility is 10 minutes outside of Sacramento.
Our winery is growing rapidly and we want our wine to deliver a happy, giggly energetic high. We currently use ethanol distillate for our wine, but and not satisfied with the high it delivers once water soluble. The theory is that distillate strips out all other cannabinoids that are needed to deliver a strain-specific highs. We are experimenting with ethanol extraction then reintroducing as many cannabinoids and cannabis terpenes as we can after decarboxylation. We are not putting the extract in a vape pen, so clarity is not what we are going after, we want a full spectrum, (true to the stain) high in our bottle.
Your main objective is to do strain specific, small batch extraction and measure the different effects the full spectrum extract delivers when it is added into our wine. We don’t want inconsistency in plant material as we expand, so for this R&D our team will oversee cultivation of different (verified genetics) strains and once we have identified the strain we want, we will outsource the genetics cultivation. We need to have a steady and consistent supply of the cannabis we want. Down the road we don’t want to rely on someone who claims their they have Green Crack when in fact it is Sour D.
We have someone on our team that will handle the small batch cultivation, so we are not looking for a grower. However, once we find the perfect genetics we will need someone to ensure the raw plant material is the correct strain and excellent quality.
Since this type of R&D is not a 40/hours a week job, this is a two-part job. We are collaborating with the licensed extraction company Totaleaf Inc. Their Chief Science Officer, Jonathan Dornel Ph.D in is looking for an extraction assistant. He has 10 years of experience with Cannabis and wine on top of his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
Jonathan is looking for a Lab Technician (Cannabis oil extraction) to assist his team with daily operations that include:
Operation and maintenance of rotary evaporators for solvent/oil recovery
Front-end processing of raw materials (e.g. weighing, cleaning, etc.)
Preparation of extraction equipment and processing workspaces
Cleaning and sterilizing of laboratory equipment
Live close to the extraction facility in Sacramento, CA, and be there 5 days a week.
Proof of 1+ years extraction experience. We are not hiring someone who wants to get into the game.
College degree (Bachelors at a minimum)
Great written and oral communication skills
List of equipment you have extracted with and your SOPs
3 industry references upon request (Alex’s mom does not count)
Compensation: $20/hr ($42k/year)
Interview process: in two weeks we will get back to you either yes or no. The 1st interview will be a facetime with Jonathan. The second interview will be with the team at the facility, the third interview will be at a dive bar…
Send resumes with a cover letter to: Jonathan@totaleaf.com
